Belligerent Bunny (a short story) Prologue

Belligerent Bunny  Prologue     "Rock a by baby on the tree top" she quietly sang as the wind whistled through the trees and rushed against the shack's wall, making small tremors in the rickety building. Each new howl of the wind that passed through the cracks of the small building sent shivers down her spine. "When the wind blows…" The small bunny twisted and huddled deeper into her grasp as if to get closer into safety. Some ocean spray was blown about though the night and seeped into the little dryness she had. "The cradle will rock" she gently caressed the little thing and swayed back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. "When the bell breaks the bunny will fall…" She carefully stooped over him to keep the spray from touching him. The small thing tucked in it's wings closer. "Into my arms, for… for… forever… forever… s… s… safe a… and sound." She began to cry. Rocking back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, the...

1st Q & A

Start up of Q & A sessions!  Hello everyone! lately I've been answering some questions from people inquiring about getting a bunny. So I thought the Q & A (questions and answers) I give would add a little more to my blog and may answer some of your questions. Feel free to e-mail me questions @ HollandLopsofLoveRabbitry@outlook.com I'll get to answering as soon as possible (it may take a week for me to post about the topic you inquire about)! Q & A         Q:      What things do you need to have to own a bunny?       A:      The essential items to have a bunny are: Rabbit hutch with enough room for bunny to hop 2-5 times, an area for the bunny to stretch it’s legs (or just hold your bunny often). This can be an enclosed area out side or in your house. Food dish and water dish or bottle. Litter box (not a literal cat litter box but just something for the bunny to do it’s business in) which typically has ...

Bunnys!!!

I wanted to show a few pictures to y'all of my latest litter (they are a few months old) because I thought this blog needs more cuteness added to it, and what's more cute than a bunny? So here are some members of the family. I hope you fall in love with them just as I did.  I also am selling some of the ones with the same coloring's so if anyone would like to get a purebred Holland Lop, they are $90 each and come with a partial pedigree.

The Vienna marking gene.

T h e V i e n n a m a r k i n g . The Vienna marking (v or without the marking V).   The Vienna marking is a white splotch on the forehead and one on the nose which is typically wanted on "non-brokens", because it can cause a half color mark on the nose which is a DQ for showing. The Vienna marking is also a DQ for showing because it is not a qualified white marking (a qualifying one for example are the white splotches on brokens, I could go on and on about the showing needs, wants, etc... but I think I'm saving that for other posts) on your rabbit. The Vienna marking is neither dominant or recessive, it is true that to get the full marking you would have to have two of the genes vv but when the bunny only carries the gene (Vv) than it can possibly "pop" which makes it not recessive, when the Vienna gene "pops" it means that it shows part of the marking. The Vienna marking is also an unwanted marking for showing but is also a very wanted gene/marking...
